Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about Vocova AI transcription

Getting started

How Vocova works

The basics of AI-powered transcription

How does Vocova work?

Upload an audio or video file, or paste a supported URL from 1,000+ platforms like YouTube, TikTok, Reddit, Vimeo, Google Drive, Apple Podcasts, or SoundCloud. Vocova's AI transcribes the recording and delivers a full transcript with timestamps, speaker labels, and an AI-generated summary, typically within minutes. Everything runs in the cloud with no software to install.

How long does transcription take?

Most recordings are transcribed within minutes. A 60-minute file typically completes in 3–5 minutes. Processing time depends on file length, audio quality, and the quality tier you select — Standard is faster, while High prioritizes maximum accuracy.

Do I need to create an account to use Vocova?

Yes, a free account is required. Signing up takes seconds with Google or email — no credit card needed. Your account stores all transcripts in the cloud so you can access, edit, and export them from any device.

Can I try Vocova for free before upgrading?

Yes. The free plan includes 30 minutes of transcription to get started, with timestamps, AI-generated summaries, and TXT export. No credit card is required. You can upgrade to Plus or Pro anytime for speaker identification, translation to 140+ languages, and more export formats.

What devices and browsers does Vocova support?

Vocova is a web application that works in any modern browser — Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge — on desktop, tablet, or phone. There is nothing to download or install.

Accuracy and languages

Transcription quality, language support, and speaker detection

How accurate is Vocova's transcription?

Vocova uses state-of-the-art speech recognition models that deliver high accuracy across a wide range of accents, speaking speeds, and audio conditions. Two quality tiers are available: Standard for faster results and High for maximum precision. Every transcript includes a built-in editor for reviewing and refining any section.

What languages does Vocova transcribe?

Vocova transcribes 100+ languages including English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Chinese, Japanese, Arabic, Hindi, Korean, Russian, Italian, and many more. The AI auto-detects the spoken language, or you can select it manually. This is the widest language coverage among transcription platforms.

Does Vocova detect and label different speakers?

Yes. Speaker diarization automatically identifies and labels each speaker in the recording — no manual setup needed. This works for meetings, interviews, podcasts, and any multi-speaker audio. You can rename speaker labels in the built-in editor. Speaker identification is available on Plus and Pro plans.

Can I edit the transcript after it's generated?

Yes. Vocova includes a built-in transcript editor where you can correct words, adjust speaker labels, and refine any section. Changes save automatically. You can also share the final transcript with others via a unique link.

Can Vocova handle accents and background noise?

Yes. Vocova's AI models are trained on diverse audio conditions including various accents, speaking speeds, and background noise levels. For best results, select the High quality tier. Clear audio with minimal background noise produces the most accurate transcripts.

Translation

Translation and subtitles

Multilingual translation and subtitle generation

Can I translate my transcript into other languages?

Yes. Plus and Pro users can translate any transcript into 140+ languages with one click. The translation preserves the original structure including timestamps and speaker labels. You can also export a bilingual version with the original and translated text side by side.

How do bilingual exports work?

After translating a transcript, export a side-by-side document with the original text and the translation together. This is ideal for language learning, multilingual teams, and creating accessible content for international audiences. Bilingual export is available on Plus and Pro plans.

Can I generate subtitles from my transcription?

Yes. Export your transcript as SRT or VTT to use as subtitles in any video editor or platform. Vocova preserves precise timestamps for each segment, keeping subtitles perfectly synchronized with the original audio. Subtitle export is available on Plus and Pro plans.

What is the difference between SRT and VTT subtitle formats?

SRT (SubRip) is the most widely supported subtitle format, compatible with YouTube, Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, and most video editors. VTT (WebVTT) is designed for web video players and supports additional styling options. Both are generated automatically from your transcript with precise timestamps.

How many languages can I translate into?

Plus and Pro users can translate transcripts into 140+ languages, covering major world languages and regional languages like Cantonese, Filipino, Kurdish, Tibetan, Yoruba, and Zulu. This is the broadest translation coverage available among transcription platforms.

Can I share my transcript with someone who doesn't have an account?

Yes. Every transcript has a unique shareable link. Recipients can read the full transcript without creating a Vocova account. You control access — disable the link anytime to revoke sharing.

Can I copy the full transcript to my clipboard?

Yes. One click copies the entire transcript to your clipboard, ready to paste into any document, email, or chat. This works on all plans.

Are timestamps included in all export formats?

Yes. All export formats include timestamps for every segment. SRT and VTT exports include precise timing for subtitle synchronization. PDF and DOCX exports include timestamps alongside the text for easy reference.

Are speaker labels included in exports?

Yes. When speaker identification is enabled on a paid plan, all export formats include speaker labels so you can see who said what. Rename speakers in the editor before exporting for clean, professional transcripts.
