Convert any audio file to the format you actually need

Phones export M4A, meeting tools save Opus, audio editors expect WAV, podcast hosts want MP3, and old archives are full of WMA and AIFF. Vocova brings 12 audio formats together in a single page: drop in a file, pick the output, and download a clean result. No desktop install, no command-line setup, no watermark, no signup. If your audio is mostly speech, you can continue into transcription from the result screen using the same file you uploaded.

How it works

1

Upload your audio or video file

Drag and drop or browse. The converter accepts every common audio format produced by phones, browsers, meeting apps, podcast tools and editors, plus video files when you want to extract the soundtrack as audio.

  • Audio inputs: MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, FLAC, OGG, Opus, AIFF, WMA, AMR, AU, CAF
  • Video inputs for audio extraction: MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM, AVI, WMV, FLV, M4V, 3GP, MPEG
  • Up to 500 MB and 5 hours per upload
2

Pick your output format

Choose the format that fits the next step. MP3 and AAC for sharing and listening, M4A for Apple devices, WAV and FLAC for editing or archival, OGG and Opus for compact web audio, and AIFF, WMA, AU, CAF or MP2 for legacy workflows.

  • 12 output formats covering modern and legacy use cases
  • Only compatible targets are shown, so you can't pick a broken pair
  • Same-format conversions are filtered out automatically
3

Download or send to transcription

Your converted file is ready in seconds. Download it directly, or — if the file you uploaded contains speech — continue into Vocova's transcription engine without choosing it again.

  • One-click download of the converted file
  • Start transcription from the same file you uploaded
  • Files are deleted automatically 24 hours after conversion

Features

12 audio formats, every common pair

MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, FLAC, OGG, Opus, WMA, AIFF, AU, CAF and MP2 — covering everyday consumer audio (MP3, AAC, M4A), pro editing (WAV, FLAC, AIFF), web delivery (OGG, Opus) and legacy archives (WMA, AU, CAF, MP2).

Works in your browser, nothing to install

There is no desktop app to download, no command-line tool to learn and no plugin to keep updated. Open the page, drop a file, and convert — the same flow on macOS, Windows, ChromeOS, Linux, iOS and Android.

Quality that matches the format

WAV, FLAC, AIFF, AU and CAF avoid MP3/AAC-style lossy compression; PCM outputs are exported at 16-bit / 44.1 kHz where applicable. Lossy targets use practical default bitrates — 192 kbps for MP3, M4A, AAC and WMA, and 128 kbps for Opus — so the output stays clean for speech, podcasts and casual listening.

Extract audio from any video

Upload an MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM, AVI or WMV and pick an audio output to pull out just the soundtrack. Useful for podcast guests, lecture captures, Zoom and Meet recordings, screen recordings and creator workflows where the video track isn't needed.

No watermark, no signup

The converted file is delivered cleanly — no audio sting, no overlay, no signup wall before download. Sign-in only kicks in if you choose to continue into Vocova transcription.

Built into a real speech-to-text workflow

Most audio converter visits are an intermediate step before transcribing, captioning or summarizing speech. Vocova keeps the next step one click away by reusing the file you uploaded, instead of making you select it again.

Why choose Vocova

Standardize messy recordings

Voice memos, exported calls, podcast clips and old archives often arrive in mixed formats. Convert everything to a single output (usually MP3 or WAV) before sharing, editing or transcribing.

Trade size for quality on demand

Pick MP3, M4A, AAC, OGG or Opus when you need a small file for sharing, streaming or storage. Pick WAV, FLAC, AIFF or AU when you need lossless quality for editing, mastering or archival.

Pull audio out of video without an editor

Extract the soundtrack from MP4, MOV, MKV or WebM in one step. No need to open Premiere, DaVinci or Audacity just to grab the audio.

Skip the second upload before transcription

If the file is going to text anyway, continue from the result screen into Vocova's transcription flow. The same file is reused, so you don't have to select it again.

Frequently asked questions

Which input and output formats are supported?

Audio inputs: MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, FLAC, OGG, Opus, AIFF, WMA, AMR, AU, CAF and MP2. Video inputs for audio extraction: MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM, AVI, WMV, FLV, M4V, 3GP and MPEG. Audio outputs: MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, FLAC, OGG, Opus, WMA, AIFF, AU, CAF and MP2.

Is it really free, and do I need to sign up?

Yes. Converting and downloading audio is free and does not require an account. Sign-in is only requested if you choose to continue into Vocova's transcription flow, which has its own free tier.

Will my audio quality drop during conversion?

WAV, FLAC, AIFF, AU and CAF avoid MP3/AAC-style lossy compression, though PCM outputs may be normalized to 16-bit / 44.1 kHz where applicable. Lossy targets are encoded at practical default bitrates: 192 kbps for MP3, M4A, AAC and WMA, 128 kbps for Opus, and Q5 (about 160 kbps) for OGG Vorbis. For most speech and casual listening, the difference is rarely audible. If your input is already a low-bitrate file, the output cannot recover detail that was never recorded.

Are my files private?

Uploads use HTTPS, and both your uploaded file and the converted output are deleted automatically 24 hours after conversion. Individual download links expire after about 10 minutes for additional protection. Vocova does not display, share or sell your files.

Which audio format should I pick?

Pick MP3 for the broadest playback compatibility (podcasts, web players, in-car audio). Pick M4A or AAC for Apple devices and modern streaming. Pick WAV or FLAC when you need lossless quality for editing or archival. Pick OGG or Opus for compact web audio in browsers and games. For speech-to-text, MP3, WAV, M4A and FLAC all work well.

Can I convert a video file into audio?

Yes. Upload a video (MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM, AVI and others) and choose an audio output such as MP3, WAV, M4A or FLAC. The video track is dropped and you get an audio-only file. If you want to keep the video and just change its container, use the video converter page instead.

Is there a file size or length limit?

Each upload can be up to 500 MB and up to 5 hours long. For longer recordings, split the file before uploading, or upload directly to Vocova transcription if your goal is text rather than a re-encoded audio file.
